Summer: Hello! I know that at least some of you are wondering
by now, who in the world our family is! Well, that’s why we decided to
write this article for the first issue.... Just so you can get to know
us a little better... Melody, why don’t you start by telling our subscribers
where we live?
Melody:Sure, Summer! Our family lives about 1 hour away
from Dallas, Texas, in Cannon County. The house that we live in is the
original Cannon homestead and was built in the 1860’s by the Cannon family.
This house has very large rooms with 11 1/2 ft. ceilings. God really answered
our prayers last year for a home that wouldn’t cost much to rent. At the
moment, we are fixing this house up for our rent, but the landlord plans
to put it, and the 107 1/2 acres with it, on the market soon. I’ll let
Summer share with you now about our surroundings...
Summer: Dry looking, dull and barren may be the words
you’d feel like using to describe Texas. At least that’s how I felt when
we moved here from Tennessee in 1994. It was autumn when we moved, so everything
looked dead and brown. Many of the “trees” here in Texas are shrubs and
brush and there aren’t any mountains or large hills. But... I was pleasantly
surprised this spring when the trees broke out in the loveliest green foliage
and the grass sprung up so green. The surroundings that we were living
in last spring weren’t so beautiful, but in this house, the surroundings
are lovely!!! (There are even some large trees around this house) So, you
know, I guess I can’t really say that all of Texas looks ugly! :-) By the
way, Texas is my birth state. (My baby sister, Autumn, and I are the only
ones in our family that were born in Texas.)
Melody:Yes, all the rest of the children in our family
were born in Tennessee. It has taken me quite a while to get used to Texas
too, but as God has placed us here, it is something that we have to accept
as being His will.
Anyway, what brought us here to Texas in the first place, is the fact
that Dad couldn’t find a substantial job to support our family in Tennessee.
Since we have moved to Texas, the Lord has provided him with a job working
with computers near Dallas at a place called Ericsson. (A cellular phone
company) God truly has provided for us!....
My dad is also conducting a home Bible study on Sunday evenings at
which three other families are presently attending. The topics that he
plans to eventually cover are: "The Regulative Principle of Worship","Biblical
Courtship (Betrothal)", "What Does the Bible Have to Say About
Music, Sports and Entertainment?", and "God Planned Families".
Right now he is teaching on "The Doctrines of Grace", and he
has already done a series on the headcovering for women. If you think your
parents would be interested in receiving any of these studies, please refer
them to pages 21 and 31 for more information....
Summer: Our dad has also been interested in Jewish missions
for a looooong time!! :-) So, as you can imagine, our whole family dreams
of the day when we can fly to Israel as missionaries!... Whether it truly
is the Lord’s will for our family to do this someday, remains to be seen.
At the moment my dad is concentrating on finding a way to come home with
a business so that he can find time to do some mission work for the Jews
in Dallas. He is also deeply interested in promoting Ron Wyatt’s findings
in Israel and Saudi Arabia. (Noah’s ark, Sodom and Gomorrah, The Red Sea
crossing, Mount Sinai and the Ark of the Covenant)
A little on my mother, now...... I guess you could say that she’s a
regular homemaker! She has always taught us all at home, for which we are
very thankful, and she has also had us all by homebirth. As the years have
gone by, she has become even more of a homebody in that she rarely cares
to get out in the world! (She has health problems, so she doesn’t like
to get too far from home.) Home is her place.... A place for cooking, sewing,
teaching, helping my dad with his ministries and writing letters.
One of her favorite pastimes is reading Spurgeon’s commentary on the
Psalms. At the moment she is working along with another couple on a project
of putting the Psalms to music, word for word from the KJV. So far, about
1/2 of the Psalms are finished. Our family sure enjoys singing them in
worship, and it has become such a blessing to be able to memorize scripture
in such a manner.- It makes it so easy!
As for Melody and I, we stay busy too! There’s always plenty of chores
to do around here and lots of little ones to watch, so we never get bored!
:-) Also, during the school year, we have studies to do for several hours
every day. And then there’s the cooking and sewing for us too.
In my spare time, I enjoy writing, reading, cooking, sewing and playing
the piano.... What do you like to do, Melody?
Melody: I enjoy talking on the phone, filing things,
meeting new people, shopping, and working on the computer. I also like
to play with and teach Autumn new things and read in my spare time. Writing
is not really my talent, but I still enjoy writing letters...
Summer: Yes, I don’t know what we would do without Melody
here, as I certainly am not a big talker, and DO NOT like to answer the
phone! :-) Melody is great on the computer, too.
Melody:Nor I without Summer... Only because she loves
to write and edit, (she is editing my work RIGHT NOW!) this magazine is
possible! :-)
Tommy is next in line... He loves computers and is currently updating
his “Home Page”. He is also making a web site for archaeologist Ron Wyatt
which has been taking up most of his time! Tommy basically cares for most
of our animals, too - feeding, milking, etc. We have 2 calves, “T-bone”
& “Hamburger”, 10 goats (only 6 are actually ours), and a great Pyrenees
puppy named "Blizzard".
Summer:Timothy was born two years after my brother,
Tommy, but he passed away at 13 months after a short bout with spinal meningitis.
He would be 10 years old if he was still living.... We always like to mention
Timothy when listing the members of our family, because to us, he is still
our little baby. (My darling “Timoteo”!)
Charity was born a year after Timothy died... So far, she is the only
one of us who had thick, dark, curly hair as a baby. (All the rest were
nearly bald, and what little hair there was, was mostly blonde!)
Charity enjoys doing so many things!.... A few of them are: playing
piano, writing, computer, sewing, singing, playing house, and cooking.
She also helps by keeping Samuel and Harmony busy. She is constantly thinking
up new things to do, like building tents and outfitting playhouses! Samuel
and Harmony just love to play with her!
Samuel is our little darling, isn’t he Melody?
Melody:Yes, he surely is! Summer: Samuel is definitely
the quietest member of our family at present. (Other than baby Autumn)
He’s just so sweet! He says that he wants to be a missionary and a farmer
when he grows up. He also plans to raise birds and build houses. I think
he just wants to do everything!!!
Oh, oh, he just told me that he wants to do whatever God wants him
to do! :-)
Well, now for Harmony.... I think I’ll let her tell you a little about
herself. - Here she is! (All the words in parenthesis are mine.)
Harmony: I like to hold Autumn when she’s on the bed,
and Mommy says I can. I love baby Autumn! I like to play house, and I like
to let Samuel ride me on the bike. I like Pop-o when he tells us stories.
(Pop-o is our grandfather.) Daddy tells me stories in devotions,
and I like it! Melody always puts jumpers or dresses with aprons on me
in the morning. I’m three. I don’t like Blizzard (our dog) when he bites,
but when he doesn’t bite, I like him. I like to go to the park when there’s
swings.
I want to do something by myself now: hhhhhhhhhhhhhhkkzzzzz/22aaypljdfvn
Melody: Harmony is the most active of our younger sisters...
It seems that she always has something to say or do!
Summer:Now let’s talk about my sweetheart, honey baby
doll: Her name is Autumn Patience, and let’s get this straight right off
the bat... No, I will not sell her for a million dollars!!!!!! She is so
cute, and patient too, just like her name! So far she has reached the ‘crawling
and pulling up on things’ stage. Just the other day, she accidentally climbed
into a box, and boy, did she ever scare us when she pulled up and stood
in her walker seat. We’re expecting her to take off any day now...!
Summer & Melody: We hope that you feel more acquainted
with us, now. Lord willing in the next issue, you will get to see us in
action in our regular section “A Day(s) at Our Home” ...with photos, too!
God has blessed our family abundantly and we praise Him for this! "I
will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart" - Psalm 9:1 (a)
