I Love My Sister

I am a Christian girl and I live in the big city. My only sister is almost three. I’m 15. So there is a big space between us sisters. But, I love my sister! Though she is so much younger, she is still at times “like a friend”. I couldn’t count the many times that she has said funny things to make me laugh when I don’t feel happy, or how nice she makes me feel when she runs to me when I come from baby-sitting. And I love to have her as company when Mother is too busy to go for a walk or such. Yes, I do love my sister!!

One sister who I have is my oldest, Jacquleine. We affectionately call her Jackie. She is 38 years old and has been married for 15 years. She loves to sew, helps out when I need a big project done that I can’t finish, and always helps her fellowman.
She loves her nieces and nephews (I have 4, and my other sister, Jamie, has 3 children) like they are her own. She was my matron of honor at my wedding. She’s a Cross-Stitch artist and loves to play with her Yorkie and her Golden Retriever. “Thank you for being my older sister, Jackie. I love you and I can see the Love of God in your life!”

I only have one sister in my family: Shelley is 9. Maybe some of you never have problems with your sister; you and she get along perfectly, always nice and loving to each other. You never fight, and are always willing to give in to the other’s way.
Not with me and my sister. No, we do fight and have our many disagreements. It’s hard for me to give in to her way at times and sometimes harsh and unkind words lash out at her, causing a reaction and making her do the same.
But do I still love my sister?
At times, I think I don’t; but in my heart I know I always do. I can see how she loves true beauty and desires to be neat and pretty to the best of her ability. She copies me, only because she knows what I do is important and upright. (Although sometimes I do fall short of that.) She likes to be with me; she always wants to be with me and my friends or write a letter when I do.
With the Lord’s help, I try to be godly, but I fail often. Shelley doesn’t always understand that (aren’t little children always that way?? :) ) and thinks that I have a life of no mistakes. But, for the encouragement it gives just knowing how much someone looks up to me . . . I do love my sister, very much indeed.

I just want to say how much all of you dear sisters in Christ mean to me! There was a time when I felt very lonely for fellowship with other girls.. and all you dear friends, family, and pen pals have helped fill that lonely spot. — My sister, Summer, Elizabeth Neal, Jana Baldridge, Nichola and Priscilla Allison, Bethany Harper, Crystal Rae Nelson, Esther Pinzur, Hayley Weikert, Amanda Davis, Mollie Cassidy, and all of you other like-minded sisters that have encouraged me by just “being there”... I love you, and thank you so much for your friendship!

Summer doesn’t know that I am going to write this about her, but I can’t help it, as it might be quite sometime before I have a chance like this again! :)
In my eyes, Summer is almost perfect and a wonderful example to me about how I should be... cheerful, industrious, quiet, loving, helpful, compassionate and on and on...
Only a few of the many memories in our relationship that I’ll treasure are the times when she would tell me about a new plan she had & the times that we would try to carry them out, Let’s see... when we were little, there was a puppet show that we were going to have in our garage that all kinds of people were going to come to; then there was the dog show, (lots of people were going to come to it, too!), the many clubs that we started for the kids in our church (Once where Summer and I tried to teach Hebrew, Bible verses, etc.), and then there was the magazine that we had planned together ever since she was about 12. (This "dream" was one that DID come true! :) )
We became sisters in Christ the same day, we both asked to be baptized — at the same time, we were baptized the same day, we both have our birthdays in the same month, we like to talk to each other about the same things, we have the same friends,...but best of all - we both love each other! Sure, we do have our disagreements sometimes, but we love each other in spite of it. I LOVE YOU, SUMMER, and I am so glad that God gave you to me for both a sister, a sister in Christ, & a BEST friend!
Love,
Melody
Allright Melody!.. you can print it, I guess... but not without letting me put my two cents in about you :)!
...I really do feel that Melody is the best sister God could have given me! Although I’m two years older than she is, I’ll have to admit that I probably depend upon her far more than she depends upon me!
I mean, who else in the world would answer the phone, make numerous phone calls, and operate numerous computer programs for my benefit, if she wasn’t here!? Yikes!:( I don’t know what I’d do without her!
I’m so thankful that God made us opposite in some ways... Of course, I don’t have the time to list all the benefits of all our differences, but here’s just one big one for me! :)
A telephone ring makes me nervous if I’m the only one around to answer, but Melody is thrilled to death if she is able to beat Tommy and the little ones to the phone. She never has to race me.. ever! I’m just not too thrilled about picking up a phone, not knowing who’s going to be on the other end of the line, or what he (or she) is going to say or what questions might be asked of me.
..Not so with Melody! - Thankfully, (for me), due to Melody’s unique observing nature, she usually knows the answers to whatever questions might be asked of her, and so is not afraid to pick up the phone when it rings. If directions need to be given or taken, she usually does it. If something needs to be ordered, she does it without being asked twice. If something needs to be fixed, or arrangements need to be made, she’s usually the one who takes care of it... How thankful I am for her! What in the world would I do without her?!
Thanks also, Melody, for listening to me when I need to talk, thanks for sharing my dreams and encouraging me in my ideas.
And thanks also for being such a good sister, sister in Christ, and my best friend! May God bless you richly for it and..... I LOVE YOU!!!

Sometimes feelings just cannot be expressed in words, and the words that do come to your mind are quite inadequate. I guess that’s kind of how I feel at the moment.. I mean, how can I express what I feel to all of you dear sisters in Christ who have been such a spiritual blessing to me!? I really do love you.... even when we differ.
I really do love you... even when we have to part ways in a move. I really do love you... no matter what!
There are some feelings that just cannot be expressed, and this is one of them, so I guess I’m just saying it in the best way I know how....even though it seems to be so terribly weak.. I LOVE YOU!!!

I have a friend who lives far away, yet often it doesn’t seem like she lives in Texas. I’ve never met her, only talked to her once on the phone, and yet it seems like I’ve known her forever. She wrote to me about two years ago, asking to be my pen-friend. We started the basic friendship, but it was only a year ago that she asked me a question, which gave me a glimpse into her personal life. It triggered a reaction which has been going on for a year and a half now. We share personal problems, and the other gives advice or Bible verses for help. I’ve come to look upon her as a girl who is like me; struggling to be pure and right in a world which is so different, and not another one of my 20 pen-friends who saw my name in a magazine. Often I’ve been encouraged by her letters; they seem to come when I’m going through a problem or am feeling down. I then thank the Lord for her friendship. And although words can never put how much this sister in Christ has done for me . .... I love you dearly, Amanda Davis; may the Lord forever bless you for what you have been in my life. - A friend in Christ
My sister, Priscilla, is 3 1/2 years younger than me, so we've always been best friends. We do fight sometimes, and have our disputes, but we're always sorry and realize how petty our fighting is. We tell each other practically everything and we do many things together. Priscilla is about the same size as me, so we wear each other's clothes alot. We've helped each other with different things, I with her math and other schoolwork, and she with my numerous letters, by being a good critic.
Deborah(9), and Emily(7), are my two youngest sisters. They remind me of Priscilla and me when we were younger. They do a lot together, but they also like to do things with Priscilla and me. They help me with some of my jobs, which I really appreciate.
Without God, however, we couldn't get along with each other at all. We've tried it with God being in the back seat of our lives, and it doesn't work.
I don't go to school, so I don't have a lot of friends, but my brothers and my sisters are my friends, even though they are younger than me. Since we are all in the same Mom and Dad, we have a lot in common. We all do things together, as a group, sometimes.
I am thankful that God gave me each one of my brothers and sisters. I love every one of them.
- Nichola Allison
I'm 14 and I have 3 sisters. Two are younger then me and one is older. Nichola is 17 and we are pretty much like best friends. I tell her things I can't tell anyone else and when I have a problem she is willing to help me. I'm also thankful for the fact that she can write really well; I don't have that talent. so she writes a lot of things that I might otherwise have to write. And anytime I need to write something, she usually has lots of suggestions on how to make it right.
Deborah is 9 & Emily is 7. They are really fun and sweet and do lots of little things for me. They are also very forgiving when I'm not nice or lose my temper, which is more often than I should.
All of us do our share of sisterly fighting and things like that, but pretty soon we forget all about it and go on being best friends again. I love my sisters and I'm very thankful that God gave them to me.

Dear sisters in Christ,
I truly love my sister! Hannah Jane, (2 1/2) is my dear baby doll! Even though she is so much younger than me, we share such special times together! During the night, if she cries for a drink or because she is scared of a storm, I usually bring her into my bed. (The instant cure :) ) Before Hannah was born, I had always wished that I had another sister. I wanted someone to look up to for encouragement or counsel. (I still do :) ) Those of you who have Godly sisters older than you, please don’t take them for granted! Your sister can be your best friend! Mine is!
I know that younger sisters are also a blessing! Since God didn’t choose to give me an older sister, I am so glad that He has given me the opportunity to encourage Hannah as she grows older. (Melody, your sister, Summer, has been such an encouragement to me! Make her your best friend!) (She is! :) - Melody)
Hannah is our miracle baby. Before Hannah was born, Mom started to have problems; the doctors told us some disturbing news.
They said she had dwarfism, had eleven fingers, and a clubbed foot. My family was shocked.
I was crushed. I had waited so long for a sister of my own. But, I was determined to treat her just the way I would if she were perfect.
The day she was to be born, I got to go along. As I waited with a friend, he asked me if I was nervous , or afraid. Even though I was, I did not say so. I said, “I will love her with all my heart, even if she looks awful.”
When Hannah was born, they brought her out for me to see her. She was beautiful! She had very dark hair and blue eyes. She was not a dwarf, (though she is a little short). Her feet and hands were perfect! The doctors were wrong, Praise the Lord! I encourage you to truly love your sister for God has put you together!
God bless, “sisters”. : )
